A La Trobe alumni wins award in India !

 
CHENNAI: R Sahadevan, professor at the University of Madras’s Ramanujam Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics, has been awarded the prestigious Meghnad Saha Award in Theoretical Sciences for 2007. The award instituted by the University Grants Commission by an endowment made by Hari Om Ashram Trust, Nadiad, carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a citation, a press release said.
 
A PhD from the University of Madras, Sahadevan has been working as a professor at the Ramanujan Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics since 1989. He was awarded post-doctoral fellowship to visit La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia, during 1991-1994. He has held visiting professorships in many universities abroad. Sahadevan was a recipient of the Tamil Nadu Scientist Award in 2002.

La Trobe alumnus Andrew Demetriou, Chief executive Officer of the AFL, has kindly agreed to give the 2009 Alumni Lecture entitled ‘Building a National Competition – The AFL in the 21st Century’.

The lecture will give you a wonderful and rare opportunity to hear Andrew Demetriou talk about the growth of Australian Football at all levels of the game and the impact of football on the community. Read more
